Tru-Cut Biopsy Guidelines
The following requirements are in place to ensure patient safety and optimal diagnostic quality during Tru-Cut biopsy procedures.
Coagulation Panel
A coagulation panel (including PT/PTT) is required prior to all Tru-Cut biopsy procedures. Additional bloodwork (CBC, chemistry panel, etc.) is recommended to support case assessment but does not replace the need for a coagulation panel.
Scheduling Requirements
Tru-Cut biopsy procedures require a minimum of 5 days' notice prior to scheduling to allow for appropriate case preparation and coordination.
Anesthesia Requirements
All Tru-Cut biopsy procedures are performed under full general anesthesia. Sedation alone is not sufficient.
Biopsy Needle Requirements
Must be a Tru-Cut biopsy needle (spring-loaded core biopsy needle)
